Though most of Gotham City’s residents don’t know it, the vigilante known as the Red Hood was once the second boy to take on the mantle of Robin. Trained in martial arts and detective skills by the Dark Knight himself, Jason Todd learned everything that he needed to know to fight the master criminals that plagued both the city and the world at large. However, unlike his mentor Jason never displayed a particular difficulty with taking life. Before this could become a major problem, however, Jason Todd was beaten to death by the Joker with a crowbar before being blown up with an entire warehouse.
Unfortunately for Gotham City, it did not end there.
Ra’s al Ghul, the Demon’s Head, recovered Todd’s body and brought him back to the Lazarus Pits where he brought the boy wonder back to life. However, something went wrong with the process, and Todd came back with considerable mental and psychological scarring. Jason Todd was now consumed by a warped sense of justice and a thirst for vengeance against those who caused his pain. After the destruction of Brainiac, Jason Todd escaped the clutches of Ra’s al Ghul and returned to Gotham City. He took up the alias of the Red Hood, and first took his revenge upon Tim Drake and Dick Greyson, the two living people to have carried the mantle of Robin. After that, he turned his wrath on the criminals of Gotham City, hunting them down and killing them one by one. Black Mask was the first – then Hush, Bane, Killer Croc. The last person he killed was Harley Quinn, the deranged protege of the Joker. With her, he sent a personal message that he knew the Joker would understand – he beat her to death with a crowbar, and blew her up with the warehouse she was in while the Joker watched.
He continues his crusade against the criminals of Gotham, still maintaining that he is the city’s defender and protector despite the fear that he strikes in all of Gotham’s citizens.
